International school, immigrant school, and local school
International school are mostly offered bilingually in both English and Mandarin, but there are also options for pure English programs. The price for international school is most expensive, followed by immigrant school and local school. The choice of what kind of school for your children depends on how well they can deal with new environment in a foreign language surrounded. Cases are employees with younger kids opt to send them to local kindergarten or elementary school whose courses are offered in Mandarin. If children’s adaptability is a concern for you, immigrant school with courses offered in mother tongue should be a solution. A good reason for some parents to choose the immigrant school is to better bridge with education system in their home country in case they will need to move back years after.
